What happened
On September 10th 2025, Charlie Kirk, an American neonazi, was shot and killed while speaking at at| Utah Valley University. Social media posts commenting on his death proliferated the internet and social media.

Brent Meyer, a beloved local teacher at Brooks Composite Highschool, like millions of others expressed his opinion as is his right under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Section 2(b). The two social media posts in regards to Charlie Kirk's death were "just the cost of doing business" and "karmas a bitch".

Shortly thereafter, a local right wing activist and extremist called "Berta Proud Dad" online decided to start harassing and intimidating Mr. Meyer. He used his platform of over 200,000+ followers, with the help of a local brooks man, to start a smear campaign against Mr. Meyer, his colleagues and his school and ultimately call for his firing in a change.org petition. 
keep in mind that “Berta Proud Dad" was fired from his job in 2024 due to his racist social media posts so we advise caution in taking his comments in good faith.

The claim that Mr. Brent Meyer is a bad influence on children in school is a ridiculous and absurd statement due to the fact that his comments were made on Instagram, not in school to his pupils.

 All while "Berta Proud Dad” has a sign for sale in his merch shop that says "If you break into my home, your safety ends where my family's safety begins", which seems much more blatant in its calls for hypothetical violence. 

What happens now

We cannot let facts get overridden by a narrative and a smear campaign. The goal is to prove to the school district that Mr. Brent Meyer has said and done nothing wrong, and that the person assisting to help lead the campaign against him, has himself been fired for his social media posta.

Sign this petition to stop "Berta Proud Dad", and his alt right Christian’s nationalist supporters, to prevent this honest, hardworking beloved teacher from losing his job.
