Safer Sprouts at Jimmy John's

Safer Sprouts at Jimmy John's

The Issue

A recent salmonella outbreak that sickened 94 people has been traced to raw sprouts. Most of those sprouts were consumed in sandwiches bought from Jimmy John's a national chain with over 1,000 store across the country. This is not the first time sprouts at Jimmy John's have been a problem. There have been issues with Salmonella and E. Coli connected to sprouts at Jimmy John's for the last 3 years running.

After this most recent outbreak the law firm Marler Clark, which is headed by food safety advocate Bill Marler, has pledged to donate $10,000 to the International Sprout Growers Association to help them develop safer methods of growing sprouts. They want Jimmy John's to match their donation.

With so many cases of food borne illnesses, Jimmy John's should invest in the health of its customers and match Marler Clark's donation. Write to Jimmy John's and urge them to step up to the place and donate $10,000 to help make sprouts safer.
