End/limit prac in year 8 music
The issue
In schools across South Australia, music is a compulsory subject for year 8's, which is a good thing because it inspires kids to learn and understand this amazing subject. Unfortunately, kids also can be reckless in a room filled with musical instruments, which means they don't treat the instruments properly, destroy them, and sometimes cause serious damage to the school property. This is extremely unfair for the students who take music seriously and wish for a future in music. Music shouldn't be banned altogether for year 8's because it is an amazing subject, but the curriculum and standards need to be a lot higher before teachers allow students to use instruments with care, I also propose a way for students to learn and understand how to properly use instruments, that way year 8's can still enjoy music and the rooms won't be completely destroyed.
