Wales' GCSE, AS and A-level exams in summer 2021 are to be cancelled, with grades based on classroom assessments. This is the most sensible approach and needs to be replicated in England immediately, to reduce the inordinate stress students are currently facing.

Welsh Education Minister Kirsty Williams said it was impossible to guarantee a level playing field for exams due to the ongoing impact of the Covid pandemic.

Pupils have missed an unprecedented amount of learning in preparation for the exams, and this approach would also give time for teaching to continue through the summer term.

Teachers will have flexibility on when to take the assessments, within the "context of results timelines".

The Rt Hon Gavin Williamson has stated: ‘Fairness to pupils is my priority, and will continue to be at the forefront of every decision we take”. 

This petition asks that we follow the fair and appropriate measures taken by the Welsh Dept of Education, and level the playing field for our children.
