Dear Readers, I sent the following email to all those at Cowra Council who have the ability to effect change with this poor cat’s plight. Please do you bit to help this lonely animal. Let the Council know that the eyes of many are looking at their actions (or more correctly their inaction!).

About 6 years ago, when there were about 200 cats incarcerated at Camp Kitty, and all the local residents were up in arms regarding the cruelty and awful insanitary conditions there, Cowra Council became involved. Promises were made to assist in the clean up of the area, an Animal Behaviourist made a report regarding the cat welfare situation, and the owner of Camp Kitty was prosecuted (by RSPCA NSW). The owner was convicted of many animal cruelty charges. Most of the cats were removed by the RSPCA NSW and it is suspected that some of these were euthanized by them. There is only one cat left, and it has been in solitary confinement since that time. This is in disregard of its rights under POCTA regulations, and its awful plight is a matter of concern for many.

This poor animal relies solely for its sustenance on the efforts of a person who comes every second day or so to feed and water it. It has no suitable shelter, it is exposed to the blistering hot summers and the freezing winters. With the recent travel restrictions it could well be that the food person may not be able to attend.

I am appealing to Council to send it’s Rangers to take possession of the cat, as a matter of basic humanity. I realise that there are access problems, but I beg you to take action. It has lead a lonely and wretched life up to now and if you have an ounce of compassion in your heart I urge you to take action.

Please be assured that I will pay any pound fees and organise for a cat re -homing person to collect and care for it till a home is found .

This cat needs the Council to safeguard its rights under POCTA.

I implore you to rescue this cat.
