Dear Readers thank you all for your ongoing help and support. Below is RESPONSE FROM THE RSPCA to reader Ginger’s enquiry in my last update.
Good Afternoon Ginger,
Thank you for contacting the RSPCA NSW.
On Tuesday 2 July 2019 an RSPCA inspector attended the property and sighted a black and white cat in good body condition that was bright, alert and responsive. At the time of inspection the cat had access to food, water and shelter. The cat was observed climbing up a eucalypt tree, sitting in it and later returning down. The RSPCA inspector has confirmed there is a person in charge of the cat who attends daily to feed, water and checks on the cat’s welfare.
In relation to the Change.org update posted on 29 June 2019, the image of the cat is one that is four years old and does not depict the cat that was observed on the property by the RSPCA inspector.
THIS IS MY RESPONSE.
Firstly the RSPCA NSW statement that there is a person who attends daily to feed and water and check on the cat is incorrect. Someone attends on alternating days (every 48 hours) to provide food and water for the cat.
The photo posted on 29 June 2019 is not of the cat the Inspector observed during his visit to the property. The photo is of the conditions at Camp Kitty when the Inspector and the RSPCA were insisting that there were no welfare issues.
Regarding exercise, is the Inspector implying that the cat gets its exercise in accordance with POCTA by climbing a tree?
The following are the various sections where breaches of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979. (POCTA) seem to be occurring -
Part 5 (1),(3) Part 8 (1),(2) Part 9(1), (2)
In relation to the above sections of POCTA the cat at Camp Kitty does not get are:(1). a regular change of water or regular supply of food (2). adequate exercise, it has not (to the best of my knowledge) ever been out of its confinement in over 4 years! (3). no veterinary care, or control and supervision for over 3 years (which is an act of cruelty), also (4) the shelter it has got is totally inadequate. The shelter does provide it shelter from the rain but not from the freezing cold or blistering heat.
I now ask to all readers to ask the RSPCA NSW if they will now state there are no POCTA NSW breaches at Camp Kitty (following on from their email to Ginger). If they state there are not then I will bring these matters to the attention of the Dept. of Primary Industries and see how they judge this matter.
Regarding the issue of the photo being 4 years old. Yes it is, and I have told readers that. It demonstrates the time when the same Inspector was shown photos of what was going on. The RSPCA NSW has been informed about this situation, from the CEO, to all the Directors, and the Chief Inspector. The repeated response was `there were no welfare issues’. Even my State MP (at the time), Katrina Hodgkinson, was told the same thing. The State Premier was informed of this, the Dept. of Primary Industries Minister (then Niall Blair), therefore many have been informed. Also of course Cowra Council, whose Environmental Control Office defamed me in an earlier update. The Police in Orange and Cowra were also informed. No one would act because the RSPCA NSW were maintaining that `there were no welfare issues’.
The RSPCA NSW have never stated what happened to all those cats that they removed from Camp Kitty, after stating `there were no welfare issues’. Did these cats join the 48 % of cats that get killed by the RSPCA NSW when they get control of them? Can readers find out?
Today’s photo shows an awful scene taken on 8-11-2016. Cat corpses and skeletons were often seen at Camp Kitty. I appreciate whatever readers can do to save the last remaining cat there. Please ask the RSPCA NSW questions. Thanks Keith.
