Dear Readers, thank you for your continued support. Regarding the solitary cat, I can report that it is still alive and living as it has done for over 3 years in absolute isolation and now subjected to freezing cold nights. We have had a run of -0C for a time now, a couple of nights ago it dropped to -4C.
Since my last update I have written to the NSW Dept. of Primary Industries again (30-7-19) and below I reproduce some of the questions I have asked. I mention that I have not yet had a response to this letter. I am not surprised as I had to request the help of my local MP to get them to reply to my previous letter. I expect to have to do the same thing again!
Dear Mr……….,
I write to you regarding a letter sent to my MP, Steph Cooke, on 23 May when I requested her aid in getting a response to my email of 21 Jan 19.
I am pleased that the NSW Government takes animal welfare very seriously and that a robust system is in place to address animal cruelty.
You have stated that POCTA is enforced by independent approved charitable organisations, two being RSPCA NSW and Animal Welfare League. They may be independent financially but they are not independent in action and I attach a letter from the AWL whose help I required in getting POCTA infringements addressed at Camp Kitty, Cowra. They would not assist because they maintain the RSPCA NSW is dealing with this case. Also attached is a letter from the AWL which states that the RSPCA have received numerous complaints regarding cats at this address going back to 2012.
I have tried for over 4 years now to get RSPCA NSW to deal with animal cruelty issues at Camp Kitty, and after they refused to take action I started a petition on change.org titled `Tell the RSPCA NSW that this is cruel!’ It has a reader base of over 20,000 now, and the comments many are making about the RSPCA are bringing shame onto NSW and its attitude to animal welfare, and also of course to the attitude of Australia in general to welfare issues. I attach some of those comments. This is just a small selection from my last update entitled `Camp Kitty/RSPCA NSW - When will this horror end?’ Comments have come in from all over the world apart from Australia. Readers from the USA, UK, Slovinia, Bosnia, just so many adverse comments from so many different people in so many countries! We need to lift our game, and fast.
A picture I also attach (see eaten cat) is the picture I used to introduce my petition site. It shows a dead cat that had remained on Camp Kitty land for 6 weeks and had been partially eaten by some of the other 200 cats that lived there in absolute squalor and semi starvation……..
This is a small part of my letter. I shall publish more of that correspondence in my next update.
Regards Keith
