Dear Readers another posting to keep you up to date. Those of you that thought the AWL would take action I am afraid will be disappointed. I shat write to the Dept. of Primary Industries very soon about this.
Today’s photo shows the cat taken about 3 days ago. It will be very cold as we are getting a run of sub zero temperatures now. The email from AWL (Australian Welfare League) and my reply below.

Good Morning Keith,
Thank you for your email. We can confirm that these complaint details have been referred to the RSPCA, please contact them with your continued concerns relating to this matter.
AWL and the RSPCA are authorised under the same legislation to investigate alleged breaches of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979. We are two separate organisations run independently from each other, this means that any and all breaches relating to this property, this owner and the animals housed there thus far, has been investigated by RSPCA. As we understand, this matter is still being reviewed and legal proceedings have commenced, therefore AWL has stood down from taking any enforcement action at this time as RSPCA have the history of any possible prior breaches moving forward.
Kind Regards,
Elizabeth Mahon
Inspector
Dear Elizabeth, I thank you for such a quick response to my email of the 14-06-19.
I note your comments. You have stated that the AWL and the RSPCA are authorised to investigate alleged breaches of POCTA 1979, and are two separate organisations run independently from each other. I contacted you for these very reasons.
You have now decided to let the RSPCA NSW do all the investigation and take any action.
From what you have said in your email you have the power to act and you have received a complaint with full details of the POCTA infringements, and have made the decision to let the RSPCA NSW handle this matter. I feel that this is an abdication of your responsibilities, but it is your decision and I obviously have no control over it.
I do repeat what I have said previously. This is that the cat does not get any exercise and has unsuitable accommodation. Its water is not changed every day and it is not fed every day. It does not get supervision or to my knowledge any veterinary care. These I believe are all breaches of POCTA 1979. It also seems very strange as you have stated `this matter is still being reviewed and legal proceedings have commenced’ why the cat is still allowed to suffer. Surely any organisation that is the slightest bit concerned about animal welfare would have removed that animal to suitable and safe accommodation. After all the gentleman who owns Camp Kitty has over 20 animal cruelty convictions.
I would also mention that the RSPCA NSW is a public company and it has the worst euthanasia rates for cats for all the various RSPCA bodies in Australia, but I am sure you know this.
The figures below are as per the RSPCA website for euthanasia rates per state for the years 2017-18. Animals killed per state in brackets
ACT(323) Darwin(18) NSW(6118) QLD(2042) SA(1356) TAS(328) VIC(2219) WA(132)
This gives a total no of cats killed of 12610. Therefore percentage of the cats that RSPCA NSW comes into contact with they kill 48.5%.
Thank you for your time. Keith Climpson
