Roy Jenkins represents the best of liberal politics: freedom, fairness, and reform with moral clarity. His legacy sits at the heart of what Liberal Democrats claim to stand for.

Yet despite his central role in shaping modern British liberalism, and in the story that led to the creation of our party, Roy Jenkins is not currently an option for Liberal Democrat membership cards.

That should change.

As Home Secretary, Jenkins helped deliver reforms that expanded liberty and modernised Britain; strengthening civil rights, removing outdated restrictions, and making the country more open, tolerant, and free. Later, his role in the political realignment of the centre-left helped lay the groundwork for the party we belong to today.

Membership cards are small things, but they matter. They reflect our identity, our history, and what we choose to celebrate. If we can honour leaders, campaign themes, and key moments in our movement, we can certainly honour one of the people who helped build it.

This petition calls on the Liberal Democrats to add Roy Jenkins as an official membership card design option.

It's a simple change, but a meaningful one.
