Royal Canin: Environmentally Conscious Pet Food Packaging

Royal Canin: Environmentally Conscious Pet Food Packaging

The issue

Why do we have to choose our pets or the environment? Why can't we choose both?

As animal lovers and pet owners, people purchasing from Royal Canin choose to do so because of the good quality. However, there is a problem with the packaging Royal Canin uses. It goes straight to landfill. This is something a lot of pet owners have to face, whether it be for a dog, cat, or even a snake. The world around us shouldn't have to to be sacrificed when buying the best for our pets.

It would be fantastic if Royal Canin is able to offer recyclable cans for wet food. To add to this, compostable or paper bags for dry food would make a great change.

I recently adopted a 5-month-old kitten named Bluebell. He loves to curl up on my chest, play with old birthday balloons left hanging around and makes a precious 'mewl' whenever its time for food. When doing research, I found that Royal Canin was my preference for Bluebell. However, I was completely conflicted because I, like many others, strongly value the environment, and this brand wasn't doing great in terms of packaging. Why did I have to choose between the health of my animals and my love for the environment? I chose to feed Bluebell Royal Canin, but hope that sooner rather than later they step up and be responsible for the waste they produce.

Whether you have pets, know someone who does, or just want to help the earth out a little, you can contribute to helping the pet industry lower their environmental impact.
