N.C. MANAGED CARE!

N.C. MANAGED CARE!
Managed Care is currently a Failure! We demand good healthcare services! North Carolina officially launched the Managed Care Organization(MCO) Health System for NC Medicaid recipients on July 1, 2021. The current system needs updating and or postponing because it is not working to serve recipients and providers. Many recipients were not even notified what MCO they were assigned to until after July 1.
The MCOs all rolled out on 7/1/21 and providers were not given access to them fully to prepare and training was inappropriate. The insurance companies websites(MCO) that they are now networking/utilizing with have at least three portals each you have to utilize and none of them are consistent nor the process to utilize. Medicaid providers previously had two portals total and now providers have over five companies with at least three portals each. These Managed Care Organizations(MCO) do not have understanding, appropriate training, correct enrollment crossover/information, guidance and consistency among primary health providers nor any provider utilization management staff about policy and provider policy requirements. Many providers are having to discontinue services due to nonpayment, thus, many children are losing health services. The Children's Developmental Services agencies still are not getting paid as well with no consistent plan of action for these recipients to continue to receive services. BCBS and NC Medicaid are now offering a hardship pay advance for providers. Many parents are being told by their child's primary care physician that they are not accepting certain insurances. So again parents are having to try to figure out which MCO to select by September's change deadline.
The MCO's have not also disclosed the benefits they each offer to recipients and providers do not know this/have information. North Carolinians were told the MCOs would benefit them. North Carolina Medicaid is advising providers to be patient; however, with no consistency, websites/software flaws and everchanging processes this is more than we believe North Carolina is currently able to handle. Maybe they should have launched one MCO at a time. For these reasons please sign the petition to join us advocating for North Carolina to cancel the current Managed Care System.
