In March 1995, 18-year-old LaCaze was charged for the robbery and murders of officer Ronald Williams,and siblings Ha and Cuong Vu. He was tried, convicted and sentenced to death in 1995, largely because his trial attorneys failed to even fight the case or investigate events that happened before the case started that had a very big part in his conviction.
