A Call to Action for R-MC: Redressing Grievances of Marginalized Communities

A Call to Action for R-MC: Redressing Grievances of Marginalized Communities
The Issue
Marginalized voices, both current and graduated, are taking the time to collect our negative experiences at Randolph-Macon College as a way of speaking our truths that have been discredited and left unaddressed by the college. This petition is for those who will stand with us as we call for R-MC to take tangible action steps.
In order for the Randolph-Macon administration to support its marginalized students and alumni, it must first acknowledge the culture that has created and condoned such a racially hostile environment. Countless microaggressions and incidents of discrimination occur here, but because they do not threaten the larger demographic of Randolph-Macon College students (i.e. white students), these events are downplayed, dismissed, and outright denied. The message is clear: if the majority is not impacted, this institution thoughtlessly disregards the situation.
Please see the attached document for the letter in its entirety.
