Dear Honorable Members of the Board of Supervisors,

Subject: Request for Paving of Albert Graves Rd and intersection of Higgins Rd in Jefferson Davis County

We are writing on behalf of the residents of Jefferson Davis county to respectfully request that our road be considered for paving. Our community has faced ongoing challenges due to the road’s current condition, and we believe that paving it would greatly improve safety, access, and quality of life for residents, visitors, and service providers. Traffic from 3 counties all intersect through this section. 

Our main concerns include:

1. Safety – The unpaved surface contributes to washouts, deep ruts, dust, and mud, all of which create hazardous conditions for vehicles and pedestrians.

2. Accessibility – Poor road conditions often hinder access for school buses, mail carriers, emergency services, and delivery trucks, especially after heavy rains.

3. Property Impact – Paved roads typically improve property values and make neighborhoods more attractive for future development or investment.

4. Long-Term Costs – Although paving involves initial costs, it reduces the need for frequent grading and repairs, offering long-term savings to the county.

We are fully aware that road improvements must be balanced with budget and priority considerations. To support this request, we are prepared to:

Submit a petition with signatures from local residents, if required.

Provide photos and documentation of current road conditions.

Coordinate a visit to the road at your convenience.
