On 16.11.2020 HND Business Students at West Lothian College were told that the Business Degree - provided by Napier University and delivered on campus at WLC – is to be cancelled and that students will be unable to attend the degree course next year as many of us had planned. This has, understandably, left many students disheartened and demotivated, unsure on what their future holds. The Degree course being delivered at the college provided access to education for students from all backgrounds, many of whom are unable to attend university for a multitude of reasons – myself included - be it physical or mental ability, childcare or other care commitments. By removing this course, accessibility is removed and additional hurdles are placed in the way of students otherwise destined to succeed.

This petition is for the attention of Richard Lochhead - Further and Higher Education Minister. We want the Scottish Government to step in and ensure this Degree continues at West Lothian College, to the benefit of students present and upcoming.

Whilst the Principal is fully supportive of all students and their right to education and progression, it’s  important to understand that the Director of Faculty and Vice Principal are working closely with Edinburgh Napier University to consider alternative pathways to degree-level study. 

All we need now is the voices of students past and present to come together in order to Save our Degree!
