The Issue

We are residents of Stephens Ridge Court respectfully requesting consideration to rezone our court from Millbrook Elementary to North Ridge Elementary.

Our court is a small, relatively new development (first established in 2018) with 12 homes. There are currently three families with young children who will be entering elementary school in the next few years, and no children from our court have yet enrolled. The remaining homes are primarily occupied by empty nesters or families with older, high school-aged children.

Importantly, our court sits right at the current zoning cutoff line. Given this, we believe there is a strong case to evaluate whether this boundary can be adjusted to better reflect the surrounding community and improve outcomes for families.

We believe this presents a timely and practical opportunity to align our court with North Ridge Elementary before school enrollment begins. Specifically:

1.  Safety & Transportation: There is an established bus stop for North Ridge Elementary just around the corner from our court (approx. 200ft). This location is significantly safer and more accessible for our young children than waiting on Spring Forest Rd during morning rush hour.
2. Proximity & Traffic Flow: Our homes are approximately 1 mile to North Ridge Elementary, while the current school assignment is roughly twice that distance. Rezoning would reduce travel time for families and buses and help improve overall traffic flow in the area.
3. Natural Community Alignment: Our immediate surrounding area already feeds into North Ridge Elementary, making this a more cohesive and logical zoning alignment for our neighborhood.
4. Proactive, Low-Disruption Timing: Because no children from our court have yet entered elementary school, this adjustment can be made now without disrupting existing student placements or transitions.
5. Minimal Impact, High Benefit: With only 12 homes and three young families, this is a small-scale adjustment that would have meaningful benefits for safety, logistics, and community continuity.

We respectfully ask that the board review this boundary and consider updating the zoning designation for Stephens Ridge Court.

Thank you for your time and for your continued commitment to supporting families in our community.
