Revoke KDTC Nov 24 Booking Policy Change
Revoke KDTC Nov 24 Booking Policy Change
The Issue
On November 14, Keith Davis Tennis Center announced a court booking policy change. Effective Nov 24, Solo player can no longer book anything after 3pm on weekdays, andSingles can only book for 1 hour at a time.
This winter, members are seeing significant less court availability during prime time on weekdays( 7-10pm M-F. The club is claiming that these policy changes is an effort to promote court accessibility and convenience by essentially disallowing singles play and solo practice.
The truth is, prime time courts have become extremely hard to book not because everyone is playing singles, but rather due to the club scheduling way too many programs during those hours. Most of these programs require additional payments on top of membership fee. More than half of the courts during weekday evening time are pre occupied by paid programs and coaching sessions. Those courts are reserved months ahead of time while members can only book 7 days in advance. For instance, every Monday and Tuesday 7-9pm there are only two courts available for members to book.
We know it would be impossible to ask the club to change program schedule as that is unfair to those already registered. We would like to ask, however, that the club consider revoking the above mentioned policies that essentially prevents any bookings other than doubles play on weekday evenings. The club should also steer away from mid season policy change. These rules are not what we signed up for before season start. Players to prefer to play singles did not pay less membership fee than doubles players, why give them less access?
