Revoke Justin Baldoni's Memberships in DGA and SAG-AFTRA

Revoke Justin Baldoni's Memberships in DGA and SAG-AFTRA
The Issue
As a concerned member of the entertainment industry, it deeply saddens and angers me to witness no substantial action against abusers in our industry. The case of Justin Baldoni is a disappointing example, who despite being accused of sexually harassing a co-star Blake Lively in the workplace, still holds memberships in both the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Though dropped by WME, it is disheartening to see that the seriality of the allegations doesn't seem to affect his standing in our industry guilds.
Sexual harassment in the workplace can no longer be ignored. According to a 2020 report by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, almost 25% of women experience sexual harassment at work. In the same vein, Baldoni's behavior is just a part of an unspoken but widely prevalent issue, presenting a grave concern for every labor union member.
The crux of the matter is accountability. It's high time our industry guilds take a firm stance against such behavior, sending a clear signal to any potential abusers that we will not tolerate such behavior. Until such time, their action - or lack thereof - is a resounding message that dismisses victims' concerns, makes mockery of their experiences, and emboldens potential perpetrators.
In light of the above, we ask that Justin Baldoni’s memberships in the Director's Guild of America (DGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) be revoked. I call upon all who believe that we need to create a safe, supportive, and respectful environment in our industry to sign this petition. Take a step towards holding abusers accountable. Your signature is a step towards change.
