The Issue

Born and raised in South Africa, my country's progress matters deeply to me. Today I stand for transformation. But Elon Musk, a figure who has made great strides globally, inspires a different narrative within our borders. Sadly, his activities and public stands clash with what our people need and aspire to.

Elon Musk, a South African by birth, has repeatedly shown a disregard for the values and aspirations of the nation. His actions suggest a separation from the interests of our countrymen and women, and a privilege blind to the realities of our daily struggles. This misalignment with our national vision fuels my belief that his right to citizenship should be questioned.

Despite becoming a global superstar through his ventures such as SpaceX and Tesla, Musk's commentary and action reveal a disconnection from our core national ethos. We are a country built on people striving for equity and unity, and Musk's demonstrated behavior stands in stark contrast to these ideals. This disconnect is not what we envisage in one who holds our citizenship.

We are a nation that has come through the trials of Apartheid and grown stronger. The people of South Africa deserve leaders and figures who are empathetic to our cause and committed to the well-being of our society. Individuals who openly resist our transformation should not carry our flag.

Now, we propose to the government of South Africa to reassess the citizenship status of Elon Musk, his passport, and any other official documents linking him to our national identity on the basis of his unsympathetic posture to the evolution of our country. This should not be seen as a punitive measure but a requirement for commitment and solidarity with the national interest.

Stand with us today in communicating this message to our government. Show your support for a country where citizenship reflects shared values and collective progression, rather than self-interest. Sign the petition to stand for national understanding, and not against it.
