Revise the timings of Tr.No 07377/07378 Mangaluru Junction-Vijayapura Express Train
The Issue
Mangaluru and Hubballi are the two major cities in Karnataka, of which one is in Coastal Karnataka and another is in North Karnataka. Both cities are commercial hubs of Karnataka. NITK Surathkal which is one of the best NITs in India is situated in Surathkal,Mangaluru. Dakshina Kannada district is famous for tourist, religious places. Thousands of people visit famous temples of Karnataka like Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple, Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Shri Manjunatha Swamy Temple daily.
Earlier, during 1990s Mahalakshmi Express train used to run between Mangaluru and Miraj via Hubballi,Arsikere which used to help people of Karnataka to connect Coastal Karnataka and North Karnataka. This train service was stoppes during gauge conversion.
After considering the demands, Mangaluru Junction-Vijayapura Tatkal Express Special train was started in 2019, which had good response from public. Many people used to travel in this train between Mangaluru and Vijayapura. The train timings was not friendly to passengers and in 2020 during COVID-19 pandemic got spreading, due to lockdown this train was canceled with other trains.
Now, at present this train has been resumed and currently operating as Train Number 07377/07378 Mangaluru Junction-Vijayapura Express Special. Train Number 07377 Vijayapura-Mangaluru Junction Express Special departs Vijayapura at 6:15PM, reaches SSS Hubballi Junction at 11:40PM, departs from there at 11:50PM and arrives Mangaluru Junction at 12:40PM
Train Number 07378 departs Mangaluru Junction at 2:50PM, reaches SSS Hubballi Junction at 3:35AM, departs from there at 3:45PM and reaches Vijayapura at 9:35AM.

During return journey, the train departs Mangaluru at afternoon, reaches Hubballi at early morning next day and Vijayapura at morning. The train takes almost 19 hours to cover 782 Kms which can covered in 12-13 hours. Annigere, which is one of major town between Hubballi and Gadag doesn't have stop for this train. Also, since this train is running as special train, the ticket fare is more compared to other mail/express trains. Due to this, passengers are facing problems.
So, for the benefits of passengers and making this train friendly and highly useful for the people of both region, the timings of this train should be made as follows and should be extended till Mangaluru Central railway station as Mangaluru Central railway station is located at main part of Mangaluru city.
