Reverse Discriminatory Rule in Central Florida Softball League

The Issue

From the first moment I started playing in the CFSL, I felt embraced and genuinely welcomed. This league wasn't just another sports league; it was a special community where I could be my authentic self. The league's spirit, radiated by the diverse individuals I met there, was its heartbeat, epitomizing inclusion and equality. However, with a recent rule change, that vibrant spirit feels tainted and the inclusive sanctuary I once knew seems threatened.

This new rule, imposed without league consensus, effectively discriminates against allies within our community by singling out individuals based on their sexual orientation. It disheartens me to see that the very principles of acceptance and unity, which this league strived to foster, are now being eroded. It's as if a handful of men have taken the autonomy to impose regulations that serve a narrow vision, disregarding the voices and needs of all members, particularly the women.

The core purpose of this sports league in Orlando has always been to foster an environment where everyone, regardless of their background or identity, feels welcome and equal. This rule not only negates that mission but also isolates valuable members of our community — turning a safe haven into a space of division, rather than unity.

We seek a swift reversal of this discriminatory rule. Our goal is to restore the league to its original mission of inclusivity, where all players — irrespective of their sexual orientation — can participate freely and are judged solely on their passion for the sport, not who they love or support.
