Return Thomas Town to Kennywood!

The Issue

🚂 Return Thomas Town to Kennywood Park! 🚂

For years, Thomas Town at Kennywood was a cherished destination where families could immerse themselves in the world of Thomas & Friends. Since its opening in 2018, it has been a place of joy, learning, and adventure, where children could meet their favorite characters, experience interactive rides, and create lifelong memories.

However, Thomas Town is now at risk of permanent closure, a devastating blow to fans, families, and the legacy of Thomas & Friends. This decision could not come at a worse time—2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Thomas & Friends/The Railway Series, a milestone that should be celebrated, not overshadowed by the loss of one of its last remaining theme park attractions.

A Disrespect to Britt Allcroft’s Legacy
In Late 2024, Britt Allcroft, the visionary who introduced Thomas & Friends to millions through her beloved television series, passed away and makes this all the more heartbreaking. Britt’s storytelling and imagination turned Thomas into a global icon, teaching generations of children the values of teamwork, perseverance, and friendship. Closing Thomas Town would feel like a dismissal of her incredible contribution and the impact Thomas & Friends has had on childhoods worldwide.

The Last Places to See Thomas & Friends Are Disappearing
With the closure of Thomas Town, families now have fewer and fewer places to experience Thomas & Friends in person. Fans will now have to travel hours to visit local heritage railways—such as the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania—just to see Thomas and his friends.

Adding to the problem, Thomas & Friends merchandise has become increasingly difficult to find. Major retailers like Walmart and Target have drastically reduced their selection of Thomas toys, making it harder than ever for children to engage with their favorite characters. If this trend continues, Thomas & Friends could face an uncertain future, with fewer places for kids to experience the stories, fewer toys on shelves, and ultimately, fewer new fans discovering the magic of Sodor.

We Must Protect Thomas & Friends!
Thomas Town at Kennywood is more than just an amusement park attraction—it is a living tribute to one of the most beloved children’s franchises of all time. If we do nothing, we risk losing Thomas & Friends as we know it. We must act now to preserve Thomas Town, support heritage railways, and encourage retailers to keep Thomas toys available for future generations.
