Return the Maidenhead Holiday Inn to its use as a hotel

The Issue

The Maidenhead Holiday Inn was a valued community asset: a hotel close to the motorway network and Heathrow, a source of good jobs, a restaurant, a conference centre, wedding venue, gym and swimming pool. In 2022, the Home Office took it over, closed it down and without any consultation with the community re-purposed it as a migrant hostel. It is a breach of planning laws to change the use of a building without due authorisation. We argue that the change from hotel to migrant hostel is a material change of use.

We have lost our valued hotel and it is now occupied by people who have come here illegally, whose backgrounds we know nothing about.

All political parties agree hotels should not be used to house migrants. As a result of pressure from the public, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council, after three years of doing nothing, have recently announced they will start enforcement action.

We petition the Council to vigorously pursue its enforcement action to ensure the hotel is actually returned to its original use as soon as possible.

We want our hotel back!
