Restore to Legends the Generic Infantry Options for the Astra Militarum in Warhammer 40k

The Issue

Attention Guardsmen!

We, the player base of the Astra Militarum, or Imperial Guard as it is classically known as, have dedicated countless hours to Warhammer 40k, painstakingly building and customizing our Guard armies, only to find that Games Workshop has decided to discontinue our beloved generic Infantry choices. Instead, they've replaced them with named Regimental Squads, cutting down on the diversity and customizability that made us join the Guard in the first place.

While we fully respect Games Workshop's decision to do this from a business perspective, we, the legion of Imperial Guard players, are pleading for a restoration of our traditional Infantry options – Infantry Squads, Veterans, Conscripts, Special Weapons Squads, Heavy Weapons Squads, Company Command Squads, and Platoon Command Squads, to the Legends format. These options have always been a cornerstone of the Guard in Warhammer 40k, allowing us to tailor our armies to our playstyle, preferences, and lore of the Regiments we've either chosen or created.

Moreover, retaining these options to Legends, by definition, would not compromise the competitive balance of the game. We are not seeking an advantage, but simply wish to have the choice to field our armies as we made them in non-competitive play formats like Crusade play.

In the recent past, Games Workshop has been responsive to the voice of its players with the restoration of the Deathwatch subfaction for Space Marines. With your support, we believe we can persuade them to move these generic Infantry options into Legends rather than eradicating them entirely, thus preserving their spirit in the game we all cherish.

Help us in our endeavor to preserve the rich history and adaptability of the Imperial Guard in Warhammer 40k. Remember, each signature puts us one step closer to restoring our beloved generic Infantry options and thus the armies we've enjoyed over the years. Do your part, sign this petition now.
