Restore the Collingwood Cheer Squad as the 19th player

Restore the Collingwood Cheer Squad as the 19th player
The issue
To the Board of Directors and Management of the Collingwood Football Club,
We are writing this petition as passionate, loyal Collingwood members and supporters who want to see our match-day atmosphere truly reflect the greatness of our club. The Cheer Squad holds a privileged position within our club. It is meant to serve as our "19th player" on the ground the driving force that lifts the team when they need it most and unites the entire stadium. Right now, it is falling short of that standard.
Acknowledging the Dedication Behind the Scenes
We explicitly acknowledge and respect the immense dedication of the Cheer Squad members who volunteer countless hours of their personal time to craft the match-day banners and transport essential props to and from the stadium. The banner squad consistently executes their duties to an exceptional standard, and their hard work behind the scenes is deeply appreciated by the entire Magpie Army.
The Urgent Need for Structural Change
However, a clear distinction must be made between logistical dedication and match-day atmosphere. Our primary grievance lies with the lack of vocal support, energy, and leadership within the bay during play. While the preparation is commendable, the execution as our "19th player" has severely declined. It is this lack of noise and engagement combined with a stagnant structure that makes change absolutely necessary.
We believe urgent change and a formal review are required for two critical reasons:
Stagnation and Lack of Vocal Impact: The match-day energy inside the bay has gone stale. Instead of leading the dynamic, intimidating atmosphere Collingwood is famous for, the leadership has refused to adapt. Some members have held their positions for too long, effectively blocking fresh ideas, modern chant initiatives, and new, passionate fans from bringing energy into the bays.
Toxic Culture and Lack of Accountability: Alarmingly, certain members of the Cheer Squad have actively attacked fellow Collingwood members both online and in person. This behavior is completely unacceptable. A group meant to unite the Magpie Army is instead creating division and hostility within our own fan base.
We love our club, but the Cheer Squad needs a cultural reset. We demand that Collingwood FC management review the current Cheer Squad structure, enforce a strict code of conduct regarding fan behaviour, and open up transparent opportunities for fresh, active members to bring new ideas to our match-day experience.
It is time to return the Cheer Squad to its true purpose: being the loudest, most positive, and most inclusive 19th player in the AFL.
