Every child deserves a chance to learn, grow, and thrive — no matter where they were born or what documents their family holds.

The Trump administration’s latest move to block undocumented children from Head Start is a cruel attack on the most vulnerable among us. This policy doesn’t just deny early education; it denies kids a safe space, healthy meals, and a fair shot at the future. And it does so in direct violation of what the 14th Amendment promises: equal protection under the law.

We are calling on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to reverse this decision immediately and restore Head Start access to all eligible children, regardless of immigration status.

This isn’t about politics — it’s about basic humanity. Head Start was created to break cycles of poverty, not to punish children for choices they didn’t make. Denying a 4-year-old access to preschool doesn’t make America stronger. It makes us smaller. 

We urge Secretary Becerra and agency leadership to uphold the values that define this country: equality, compassion, and opportunity. Reinstate inclusive access to Head Start now.
