"Residents Demand Relief from Overwhelming Cannabis Odors: Enforce Regulations Now!"

Petition to Protect Our Community from Nuisance, Health Risks, and Violations of Law Caused by Nearby Cannabis Operations

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and business owners and operators in the vicinity of "California's Largest Indoor Grow", a commercial cannabis and manufacturing facility at 69375 Ramon Road are deeply concerned about the negative impact of this operation on our quality of life, health, property values, and the compliance with local laws. We call upon the relevant authorities in Cathedral City to take immediate and decisive action to address this escalating problem.

Our Concerns:

1. **Persistent Odor and Nuisance**
The overwhelming and unpleasant smell emanating from the cannabis facility has become a constant source of distress for our community. The odors are pervasive and disrupt our ability to enjoy our properties, affecting both residents and visitors. This situation is not only a nuisance but also a violation of our right to live and work in a peaceful and healthy environment.

2. **Health and Safety Risks**
The strong odor suggests possible exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other chemicals used in the cannabis production process. This raises serious concerns about potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable individuals such as children and seniors. The community should not be subjected to industrial operations that may compromise public health so close to residential and business areas.

3. **Violation of Law and Zoning Regulations**
The continued operation of this cannabis facility, despite the adverse effects on the surrounding community, appears to violate zoning laws and regulations designed to protect residential zones and nearby businesses. The facility’s failure to control odors and its proximity to a designated residential and hospitality area are inconsistent with city regulations and legal requirements for conditional use permits.

4. **Economic and Property Value Decline**
The persistent odors and ongoing disturbances are causing a noticeable decline in property values and rental interest. Many of us have invested in this resort community expecting a serene and welcoming environment. Instead, we find ourselves facing a situation that threatens our financial investments and the attractiveness of our properties as vacation rentals. Business owners in the area also report a negative impact on customer experience and overall business operations.

5. **Impact on Nearby Residents and Businesses**
This issue extends beyond the residents of Outdoor Resort Palm Springs, affecting nearby businesses and other communities. The unpleasant odors disrupt daily business activities, deter customers, and negatively impact the local tourism industry and hospitality sector.

Our Demands:

Given the severity of these concerns and the apparent violations of law, we urgently request that Cathedral City officials and relevant regulatory agencies take the following immediate actions:

  • Revoke the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) AND the Temporary Occupancy Permit for the cannabis facility at 69375 Ramon Road. The ongoing issues demonstrate that this operation is incompatible with its proximity to Resort Residential zones and surrounding businesses and is in violation of local zoning laws.
  • Stop All Plans for Additional Construction on the property at 69375 Ramon Road. Any expansion of the facility will exacerbate the existing problems and further compromise the quality of life and business environment in our community.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Inspections of the cannabis facility to identify the sources of the odor, assess compliance with environmental and zoning regulations, and investigate any legal violations.
  • Enforce Existing Laws and impose strict penalties for any violations related to odor control, air quality, and proximity to residential and business zones.

Conclusion:

We did not choose to live or operate our businesses in an odor hazard zone, nor should we be subjected to the negative effects of poorly managed cannabis operations that violate local laws. The continued expansion and operation of this facility represent a clear breach of our fundamental rights and legal protections. We demand immediate action to address this issue, revoke the conditional use permit, halt any further construction plans, and restore the peace, safety, and well-being of our community.

**We urge all affected residents, property owners, business owners, and operators to join us in signing this petition. Together, let’s demand the change our community deserves.**
