My pre-verbal autistic son is due to start school in September and anyone with a non-speaking or otherwise vulnerable child will know the extra layer of terror when it comes to leaving our children in new care with cases such as Kiarra Jones doing the rounds on social media. It breaks my heart that I can not enforce all the ideas I had when I was pregnant to keep him safe, including making sure he knew he could tell me anything upsetting, whether he thought it was silly or felt scared to or was told not to.

As parents we have a right to know our children are safe and not being harmed. Installing CCTV on school buses for disabled children would provide an extra layer of security and peace of mind for parents. According to the National Autistic Society, over 700,000 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum, many of whom rely on specialised transportation services. Ensuring these buses have CCTV that is accessible to parents can help protect vulnerable children from potential abuse or neglect.
