Living in Caledonia Housing Association properties has become increasingly difficult, especially during the harsh winter months. My name is Claire , and I am reaching out to share a struggle that thousands like myself face. Our homes are equipped with storage heaters, an outdated form of heating that has become not only inefficient but also incredibly expensive to run.

In the coldest months, I face heating bills that skyrocket to over £100 a week. Despite this enormous cost, my home remains cold and uncomfortable. This is not just my story; many residents are affected by this issue, finding it increasingly challenging to keep our homes warm without unbearable financial strain.

The problem lies in the inefficiency and high operational costs of storage heaters compared to natural gas heating. According to the Energy Saving Trust, switching to a modern gas heating system could reduce heating bills by an estimated 50%. These savings are substantial and can significantly ease the financial burden on families.

This change will not only be cost-effective but also environmentally beneficial. Gas heating systems emit significantly less carbon dioxide compared to storage heaters, supporting our collective goal to reduce emissions and fight climate change.
