Require all theme parks to accommodate rides for wheelchair users unable to stand.

Require all theme parks to accommodate rides for wheelchair users unable to stand.
The Issue
My 10-year-old son absolutely loves theme park rides and has done since being a baby. However, as he has grown older, he's faced a heartbreaking reality. Being unable to stand and transfer from his wheelchair has significantly limited his ability to enjoy his favorite activity – visiting theme parks. His pure joy in experiencing the thrills and wonder of rides has been curtailed by the lack of inclusivity and accessibility.
The need for change is urgent and clear. It’s time for all theme parks worldwide to recognize the rights and joys of every person, regardless of their physical abilities. Rides that can accommodate wheelchair users without requiring them to stand or transfer should be a standard, not a rarity.
Statistics show that over 2.7 million people in the UK use wheelchairs. This community, alongside their families, deserves the chance to make memories and enjoy life to its fullest at these entertainment venues. Moreover, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted by many countries, emphasizes the right of persons with disabilities to participate in cultural life on an equal basis with others.
Some theme parks have already recognized the importance of inclusivity by creating accessible rides, but these are far too few and not widespread. With technological advancements, designing rides that cater to all is within reach. Companies like Disney and Universal can lead the charge in revolutionizing the theme park experience for all by implementing accessible design practices and spearheading innovations.
By signing this petition, you join a movement advocating for widespread change in the amusement park industry. Let’s ensure that my son, and many like him, can experience the joy and thrills of these parks without limitations. Let’s make theme parks welcoming and thrilling for everyone. Sign to demand inclusivity and accessible fun!
Together, we can transform theme parks into places of joy, regardless of ability. Sign the petition and help us make a vital change.
