Require Accessible Seating & Shelters at Kirkby Bus Stops

Require Accessible Seating & Shelters at Kirkby Bus Stops
The Issue
As a disabled member of the Kirkby community, I have suffered firsthand from the inadequate facilities at our local bus stops. The public transport operators, particularly StageCoach and its drivers, do not always adhere to schedules and often fail to address the needs of their passengers. This means standing for long periods, waiting for a bus that may not even arrive. For those of us with disabilities, this can mean enduring unnecessary pain and discomfort.
Imagine waiting at a bus stop in pouring rain without any protection from the elements. Unfortunately, this is a common experience for many residents in Kirkby, Liverpool. Bus stops without seats or shelters make waiting for public transportation not just uncomfortable, but often impossible for elderly and disabled individuals, parents with young children, and others in our community who rely daily on buses to get around.
The lack of basic facilities such as seating and weather protection at bus stops is not just an inconvenience; it’s an oversight that marginalizes vulnerable members of our community. In a society that strives for accessibility and equality, it is unacceptable that essential public services like transport fail to consider the comfort and dignity of all residents.
We urge the local authorities and transport operators in Kirkby to install seating and weatherproof shelters at all bus stops. This change could dramatically improve the daily lives of residents who depend on buses for essential travel.
By signing this petition, you advocate for a more inclusive and accessible public transport system that respects the dignity and needs of everyone in Kirkby.
