As a resident of the Mid North Coast, New South Wales, I frequently travel to Bali for both leisure and business. However, I am currently limited in my options as Jetstar is the only airline offering a direct flight from Newcastle to Bali. While I'm grateful for this service, having only one airline catering to this popular route presents significant challenges, including limited flight flexibility, increased travel costs during peak times, and reduced service competition.

For many of us living in the Mid North Coast and the surrounding areas, the alternative—driving to Sydney to catch a flight—involves extra time, costs, and logistical planning. This extra travel can extend an already long journey by several hours, and for families and business travelers alike, this is neither convenient nor sensible.

Bali is a hugely popular destination for Australians, attracting thousands of tourists each year. Moreover, it serves as a vital connection for business and cultural exchanges. Despite the growing demand, the options for direct flights from regional locations like Newcastle remain limited. With a burgeoning population and a thriving community that is eager to connect with Bali, Newcastle deserves better connectivity.

Garuda Airlines, with its strong network and excellent track record in serving international tourists, can offer a valuable alternative. Introducing a direct flight from Newcastle to Bali would mean more competition, potentially better prices, and improved service quality, benefiting not only travelers but also enhancing tourism ties between our towns.

Newcastle Airport has the capacity to support more international flights, and welcoming Garuda Airlines would further boost our local economy and create job opportunities, from airport staff to local businesses benefiting from increased visitors.

We propose that Garuda Airlines consider this opportunity to open a direct route from Newcastle to Bali. This strategic decision would cater to the ready and willing travelers and support the aspirations of our community for better air transport options.
