We call on Transport for NSW to improve access to Auburn Station by reviewing the stopping pattern of T1 North Sydney–Richmond train services during peak travel times.

Every weekday, many students travelling to schools in Auburn and workers travelling to Auburn are affected because some T1 North Sydney–Richmond train services pass through Auburn Station without stopping during peak travel times. As a result, passengers must change trains at Parramatta, making their daily commute longer, more tiring, and less efficient. The same unnecessary transfer is often required again on the journey home.

These longer journeys reduce the time available for homework, sport, extracurricular activities, part-time work, family time, and adequate rest. For many students, this means missing opportunities that are important for their physical health, mental wellbeing, social development, and academic success. Longer commutes also increase travel fatigue and reduce time with family.

Auburn is a major destination for education, employment, healthcare, businesses, and community services. Improving access to Auburn Station would benefit students, workers, families, and the wider community. A small change to the stopping pattern could make a meaningful difference to the daily lives and wellbeing of many people who travel to Auburn each week.
