Every year in Melbourne there comes a time when the streets turn white with the flowers of the Pyrus Calleryana, and the accompanying semen smell makes the best of us retch. They are non-native, invasive, and they smell horrible. They are also structurally unsound, so as they grow high winds can detach large branches, which can damage property and cause accidents when they fall onto roads. 

This petition is simple — we request that the Andrews government have these basically universally hated trees actively removed from our public spaces and replaced with beautiful native trees.
