Replace Groupo Frontera for Tejano Day at the Rodeo

The Issue

As a passionate supporter and advocate for Latino culture, I find it disheartening to realize that the group selected to perform on Tejano Day at the rodeo does not represent us accurately or respectfully, nor do they reciprocate our support for them. This day holds a significant cultural importance to us; it's not merely an event but a platform where we express, promote, and celebrate our rich Hispanic heritage and traditions. In fact, Tejano Day highlights not only our music but a rich history that goes back centuries.

According to National Public Radio in 2018, the Tejano genre is deeply rooted in Mexican history and plays a crucial role in reflecting the hybrid identity of Texano individuals living in areas bordering Mexico and Texas [source: NPR]. Consequently, having a performer who is in tune with our culture and values is pivotal to truly encapsulate what Tejano Day signifies.

In light of ensuring that our voice is heard and our culture is represented with the due respect it deserves, we hence respectfully request that the rodeo's organizers reconsider their decision and select a performer who understands and respects our culture. We believe that this change would not only enhance the authenticity of Tejano Day but also resonate more with its core audience, thereby making it a truly memorable occasion for all.

We humbly appeal to every supporter of authentic Latino culture to sign this petition and help bring this impactful change.
