RENAMING “S-VALLEY” 93675 TO “YOKUTS VALLEY”

WHEREAS the California Advisory Council on Geographic Names (CAACGN) is replacing offensive, racist, misogynist names in California with names that honor the Indigenous peoples of this state;

AND WHEREAS renaming the town of S- Valley 93675 to Yokuts Valley will honor the culture and contributions of the original Yokuts people and their several tribes in this area, past and present;
AND WHEREAS the Federal Task Force has already renamed this geographical location “Yokuts Basin”, after prioritizing the input of local tribal groups, and including input from concerned citizens;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE THE UNDERSIGNED residents of S- Valley 93675 and residents of Fresno County support renaming “S- Valley” (93675) to “Yokuts Valley" 93675.
