Living in a nursing home that has the word care in it, is a joke. Although several nursing homes in Peoria, Illinois is supposed to be a period of healing and restoration. Especially if the brochure says so. Unfortunately, the experience here has become far from restorative. As someone undergoing rehabilitation in this environment, I've witnessed the drastic decline in staff morale and resident satisfaction—an issue stemming from the actions of the current nursing home administrator.

Over the past months, I've watched staff who once radiated positivity and genuine care transform into disillusioned workers, burdened by the toxic atmosphere fostered by administrative mismanagement. This shift has negatively impacted the quality of resident care, creating a cycle wherein unhappy staff lead to unattended residents, further breeding discontent. The policies implemented are backwards, leaving both residents and workers feeling unheard, unsafe and uncared for.

The situation is exacerbated by the administrator's apparent agenda to phase out long-standing staff who demand rightful compensation commensurate with their experience. This push for newer, lower-paid workers sacrifices the quality of care and damages the heart of the nursing home community. Longstanding staff are pillars of support and familiarity for residents, offering invaluable knowledge and continuity of care that is irreplaceable.

It's not enough to recognize the problem; we must act. It's imperative that we call for the removal of this administrator and the installation of a leadership team committed to nurturing a supportive and welcoming environment. One where staff morale is championed and resident welfare is prioritized.

We need leadership that values and supports experienced staff, welcoming their input in policy making. This shift can only occur if the current administration is held accountable and replaced by individuals who truly understand and respect the nursing home environment.
