As a lesbian in Richmond, VA, [REDACTED]has always been a sanctuary, a place I could go to feel safe and accepted. Recently, however, that sense of security has been shattered. The appointment of the current GM, a man, as the manager of a space meant for lesbians and other marginalized genders, has made many of us feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

For years, [REDACTED] has been more than just a bar; it's been a community cornerstone and a safe haven for lesbians. Unfortunately, with Chas at the helm, there has been a growing concern about the environment becoming increasingly hostile towards the very individuals it was meant to serve. Friends and patrons [REDACTED]have shared stories of mistreatment, disrespect, and a general erosion of the inclusive atmosphere we once cherished.

A safe space is crucial for the mental and emotional well-being of the LGBTQ+ community, especially in our current social climate. An environment where everyone feels threatened is counterproductive and goes against the purpose of such a venue. It's imperative tha[REDACTED] returns to being a positive, welcoming refuge for lesbians in Richmond.

We are petitioning for the removal of the current GM as manager and bartender as he is creating this hostile environment. We believe in appointing individuals who align with the values and understanding necessary to maintain [REDACTED] as a true safe space.
