on the 8th of january, roblox rolled out their new chat age restriction update.

what did this update do? it was an update that made users on the platform do an age verification check that would assign them into an age group after completion. as shown in the image above, users could only talk to other users who were of similar age.

this update seems pretty helpful towards the platform especially when the platform has a notorious amount of predatory behaviour still ongoing as of right now. but let me tell you why it's the complete opposite.

as proven time and time again, ai age verification has been known to be pretty inaccurate. and this is true. users on the platform completing these ai age verification checks have been assigned to age groups that were nowhere close to their actual age. considering this, it is no suprise that a whole new market has formed, where people sell roblox accounts assigned to younger age groups to others online. this actually helps predators to target children but makes it harder for others to notice.

like dude we're just all TIRED of ai moderation, roblox has forced this upon us since 2024 with no thought behind it whatsoever,.
