I recently came across a petition advocating for the preservation of what is considered by many in our community as 'art' on the Bolte Bridge. The installation, known as "Pam the Bird," has sparked significant debate, yet to many, it is nothing more than blatant vandalism. Personally, I find it troubling that such a defacement of public property is being celebrated, when in reality, it undermines the aesthetic and structural integrity of one of Melbourne's key infrastructure pieces.

The Bolte Bridge is an iconic part of Melbourne's skyline, representing both architectural prowess and the vibrancy of our city. Allowing vandalism to mar such an important structure sets a negative precedent, sending the message that unlawful graffiti can override community values and municipal regulations. It is essential that our public spaces remain undiminished by acts of this nature, ensuring they can be appreciated in their intended form by residents and visitors alike.
