Remove Palm Oil From The Exeter and Falmouth Universities Campus Shop

The Issue

Despite Falmouth and Exeter Universities claiming sustainability as a 'main priority' for their Universities and campus, they are continuing to source and sell a vast number of products containing palm oil in the campus shop. The majority also fail to hold the RSPO certification (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil).

Palm oil is the reason for the mass deforestation of some of the most biodiverse forests worldwide. This is destroying the habitats of already-endangered species, including Orangutans, Pygmy Elephants, `and Sumatran Rhinos.

This forest destruction is also causing millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere, drastically contributing to climate change.

Child and forced labour, human trafficking and the exploitation of workers are also reported to be continually pervasive within the palm oil industry.

The Universities are currently contributing to the funding of this environmental destruction and human exploitation.

We are asking you to sign this petition to ask the Falmouth and Exeter Universities to be truly 'sustainable' as they claim to be, and to remove non-sustainable palm oil products from their campus shop.
