Petition: Remove Ng Lang as CEO of the Land Transport Authority (LTA)

Singaporeans deserve better leadership for our public transport system.

Under the leadership of current LTA CEO Ng Lang, our transport system has gone downhill — and commuters and common folks are the ones suffering every single day. What should have been a world-class, reliable, and commuter-first transport network is now marked by poor design choices, declining reliability, and wasteful decisions that erode public trust.

Here’s what has gone wrong:
• 🚏 Poor and unsafe bus stop designs — new designs make it harder for the elderly and less mobile passengers to board and alight safely. Even simple shelters and seating have become confusing and impractical.
• 🚆 Falling rail reliability — after steady improvements over the years, breakdowns and delays are back on the rise since Ng Lang took over in 2020.
• 🚌 More frequent bus service disruptions — public bus reliability and punctuality have worsened, frustrating daily commuters.
• 💸 Waste of taxpayer money — a recent $50 million overspend in awarding a bus contract (Tampines Bus Package) to Go Ahead Singapore(a  company own by overseas company ) despite lower bids from established local operators such as SBST who bidded $50m lower raises serious questions about LTA’s judgment and accountability.
• 🧱 Lack of empathy and ground understanding — decisions are being made from the top without listening to commuters, bus captains, or frontline staff who keep the system running.

Singapore’s transport system is not a playground for experiments or top-down vanity projects — it’s the backbone of daily life for millions. When leadership loses touch with the ground and makes decisions that worsen the commuter experience, it’s time for change.

We call on the Minister for Transport and the LTA Board to:
1. Review and replace the current CEO of LTA, Ng Lang, with someone who truly understands and listens to commuters, frontline workers, and operators.
2. Restore accountability and common sense in transport planning and infrastructure design.
3. Put commuters first again.

LTA needs a leader who walks the ground, understands operational realities, and cares about safety, accessibility, and the people who depend on our transport system every day.

Let’s send a clear message: Singaporeans deserve better.
