Flock cameras are designed to capture license plate information and store it in a database, accessible by law enforcement for indefinite periods. This technology, while marketed as a tool for enhancing public safety, poses a significant risk to our privacy. With over 800 cameras already deployed, most without the clear knowledge or consent of Ohio residents, this form of mass surveillance is alarming and intrusive.

Statistics show that while these cameras can aid in solving crimes, their effectiveness is heavily debated. A study conducted by the Electronic Frontier Foundation highlighted that similar surveillance systems result in racial profiling and can lead to misuse and abuse of data.
