The Issue

Petition to Remove Flock Cameras from Creekside at Bethpage, Durham, North Carolina

To the Board of Directors, Creekside Bethpage HOA

Creekside at Bethpage has always valued privacy, transparency, and responsible financial management. The installation of Flock Cameras conflicts with these principles and introduces risks that our community did not consent to.

Financial Impact

The cameras represent a significant ongoing expense that increases HOA fees. These funds would be better invested in projects that directly benefit residents — maintaining shared spaces, improving amenities, and supporting long‑term community needs.

Privacy & Data Concerns

Flock Cameras continuously record and store vehicle data for every resident and visitor. This level of surveillance was not part of the original vision for our neighborhood, and many homeowners are uncomfortable with their movements being tracked and archived. Once collected, this data can be accessed, shared, or breached in ways that are beyond our control.

Misrepresentation of Access

Residents were told that footage would be available only to local law enforcement after a homeowner reported a crime. However, national reporting shows that Flock data has been shared with agencies such as ICE without any criminal report being filed. This contradicts what our community was told and raises serious concerns about how our data may be used.

Broader Misuse Nationwide

Across the country, Flock footage has been used for purposes far beyond what communities were initially promised. When surveillance expands without clear limits or oversight, trust erodes — and the risks fall on homeowners.

Our Request

We respectfully urge the Board to remove the Flock Cameras from Creekside at Bethpage. Doing so will protect resident privacy, restore confidence in community governance, and allow our HOA to redirect funds toward improvements that genuinely enhance our quality of life.

We ask our neighbors to join us in supporting this effort. Please sign this petition to request the removal of Flock Cameras from our community.
