Former Bishop of Galway and Kilmacduagh Eamonn Casey was formally removed from public ministry in 2007 by the Vatican, following allegations which included his niece Patricia Donovan's complaint of child sexual abuse. However neither the Vatican nor the Irish Church told the Irish people.

Patricia Donovan claims that Casey first raped her at the age of five and that the sexual abuse continued for years.

It also revealed that a six-figure settlement was paid by the Catholic Church to one complainant after Casey’s death. The Vatican confirmed to the documentary that Casey was formally removed from public ministry in 2007 following “allegations” which, RTÉ said it had established, included his niece Patricia Donovan’s complaint of child sexual abuse. Yet Casey continued to say Mass. It later confirmed that it had a record at that time of "five people who had complained of childhood sexual abuse against Bishop Casey".

The ordinary people of Ireland have had enough of this hypocrisy. Up until recently, many Irish children who were not baptised were not given a proper funeral or allowed to be buried in their family grave. Yes an abuser is buried in a Cathedral with full honours. 

As a small gesture to the Irish people, Casey should be removed from the Cathedral.
