The Issue

Fifteen-year-old August Borden was believed by many, including doctors, to have been attacked. District Attorney Hal Hughston is said to have intervened by making a call to Madison County, asking them to accept August's case against protocol. This action has contributed to the obfuscation of what truly happened to August Borden, resulting in no one being held accountable as of yet. This is not an isolated incident but rather indicative of a broader pattern of negligence under Hal Hughston's leadership.

Hal Hughston has consistently failed the people of Colbert County, despite the promises he made during his campaign. He pledged to stand up for victims and make Colbert County safer. Unfortunately, his actions have proven contrary to his promises, leaving many victims and their families feeling ignored, marginalized, and dismissed. For many such as the Borden family, these oversights have devastating consequences.

In addition to the case of August Borden, numerous other victims feel their cases have been inadequately handled or ignored by the current District Attorney's office. This neglect not only undermines the justice system but endangers the safety of the community. We deserve a District Attorney who will consistently advocate for victims, pursue accountability, and genuinely work to make Colbert County a safer place.

It's time for a change. By removing Hal Hughston from office, we can open the door to new leadership that is truly committed to justice for all citizens and victims in Colbert County. Let's ensure that what happened to August Borden and other victims doesn't repeat itself.

Please sign this petition to demand the removal of Hal Hughston from his position as District Attorney of Colbert County. Let's work together to bring justice and accountability back to our community.
