Katie Elizabeth Britt is an American politician and attorney currently serving as the junior United States Senator from Alabama, a position she has held since 2023. As a member of the Republican Party, Britt made history as the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Alabama and as the youngest Republican woman elected to the Senate. Before her tenure in the Senate, she was the president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama from 2019 to 2021 and served as chief of staff for her predecessor, Senator Richard Shelby, from 2016 to 2018. Britt holds a Juris Doctor degree and a Bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Alabama. She also worked as an attorney at Butler Snow, LLP.
