Suspension of Director NIT Kurkshetra and inquiry into students death
Tejasvi Arora, a third-year engineering student of National Institute of Techonology (NIT) Kurukshetra, died after he drowned in a canal near Jyotisar on the Kurukshetra-Pehowa road on August 28th . Tejasvi and his friends had gone to the canal, nearly 5 km from the NIT campus, on August 27th evening.
The involved students immediately reported to the Director of the institute and the authorities concerned who instead of calling for help of nearby divers told the students to take rest and that Tejaswi must have died by now. The student's body when taken out of the canal at 10 in the morning was sent for check up by the students in an auto and no ambulance was called by the authorities involved. The doctors revealed that Tejaswi would have died at around 3 in the morning and could have been saved had immediate action been taken on the part of authorities.
The maturity of the administration is apparent when they call off the rescue operation due to darkness. How can they call off the operations when there is slightest of chance of the student surviving. This is absolutely unacceptable.
Tejasvi was rescued only after arrival of his parents and their well wishers who persued all the concerned authorities at personal level. Nobody from NIT Kurukshetra was present during the whole rescue operation conducted at the initiative of the parents. NIT administrations arrived very late at the hospital even after Tejasvi was rescued. Such a inhuman behaviour of a person of director level of NIT is beyond imaginations and have no words to describe
This is not the very first event of negligence on the Director's part. In the past too, a girl had to lose her legs when she slipped off her room balcony. She still cannot walk properly after an year of the incidence.
1.Immediate removal of the Director, Anand Mohan of NIT Kurukshetra and initiate criminal proceedings against him
2. An independent and impartial inquiry the whole episode
3. Reinstatement of 800 students who have been suspended for protests
