Recently, I stumbled across a post on X by Bloxy News, declaring that on July 28, 2026, Roblox intends to launch AI-powered game development for mobile devices. While they envision this as a revolutionary feature, I see it as a threat that could undermine the essence of creation in Roblox.
Game development on Roblox is not just about the end product; it's about the journey of creating, learning, and sharing experiences. Introducing AI-driven game making on mobile threatens to overshadow the hard work, skill, and creativity of developers who have poured countless hours into their projects. AI might produce games at a faster rate, but can it replicate the passion and personal touch that human developers offer?
Although the concept of developing games on mobile sounds exciting, what Roblox needs is a full-featured Roblox Studio for mobile devices that empowers developers rather than replacing them. Imagine being able to code, design, and manage your projects with the same finesse as on a desktop, harmonized perfectly for mobile use.
This change could drastically alter the landscape of Roblox, diverting focus from human creativity to artificial efficiency. It risks reducing the role of individual developers, potentially leaving many feeling demotivated. As a Roblox developer, I am deeply concerned about this shift, and I'm not alone.
We are calling on Roblox to reconsider rolling out AI-based game making for mobile devices and instead focus on creating a mobile platform that supports and enhances the developer experience without replacing our valuable contributions.
