The only way to ditch fossil fuels is to adopt renewable energies, and in the auto industry, that means EVs. Unfortunately, the fact that the current generation takes 40-60 minutes to charge a battery is such a tremendous inconvenience that consumers are actively avoiding EVs all together.

The European Union recently passed a new legislation requiring phones and tablets to have removable batteries, and I’m petitioning to do the same for electric cars.

01. SWAP-&-GO

EVs with removable batteries would allow for a SWAP-&-GO system that completely eliminates charging times (a system which is already being used by “Gogoro” electric scooters today (pic. 2)), and using SOLAR-PANELS to charge the battery stations would give us unlimited free fuel (sunlight).

02. WASTE AND DEVICE LIFESPAN

• This would also prevent lithium from being wasted on EVs that aren’t sold.

• And the separation of car and battery would allow for each to be researched and developed independently. Once new batteries have been developed we can just replace the ones in circulation without also having to replace the entire cars.

[of course, EVs should still keep their ability to plug-charge so we can conveniently use it at home, and while the “GoStations” are being installed]

03. INFRASTRUCTURE

• Being able to charge all batteries together in the same “GoStation” means there is no need to build full-size gas stations from scratch just for EVs, and instead we can just add these “kiosks” to the already existing service stations.

• Removable batteries you can swap in seconds also means we no longer need dedicated parking spaces where EVs can stay for hours while charging.

• And using solar panels to charge the batteries means EVs would no longer be consuming from the central electric grid, which would then leave more energy left for other consumptions.

04. GLOBAL WARMING

Transportation remains one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and the only way the average joe will voluntarily choose to buy an EV is if they are an improvement over their current ICE, not just an “alternative”.
